Why Is  Breathwork Being Compared to Psychedelics?
It’s been two decades since my last mushroom trip, but the feeling of being completely connected to everything is something I’ve never forgotten. I remember the love I felt towards my friends and family. My gratitude for them was visceral.I also remember feeling clear about my purpose and my values. It wasn’t until many years later that I ever experienced feelings even remotely similar. It was during my first breathwork session.

I’ve facilitated breathwork sessions for hundreds of people since then and I’ve seen that I am not alone in my experience. Just last week, an overworked surgeon dealing with stress and overwhelm came to see me for a session. Afterward, he shared his experience with me and the reason for his tears. The overworked surgeon saw his grandparents who had passed away years ago and basked in the comfort of their presence and love. He also became very emotional as he saw his wife as his soul partner. Our session together was renewing as he came out knowing what mattered most to him. We can easily lose sight of what the purpose of our human experience is. I may not know the full truth but I know for sure that work and stress are NOT it.

I’ve had the privilege of hearing the impact breathwork has had on many people’s lives. From the woman who received clear messaging for a book, she was writing, to the friend who gained an understanding of her childhood and patterns that were repeating in her adult life.

Both breathwork and psychedelics take us out of our thinking mind and connect us to places we are limitless. Getting “high on our own supply” as Wim Hoff often says, is more manageable than taking a substance because we can get out of our altered state at our own will.

Neither psychedelics nor breathwork are for everyone, but if you are curious about entering an altered state of mind to see what it can do for you, book a session with a trained breathwork facilitator and enjoy the ride!
